There are so many different mattresses on the market now, that it makes choosing the right mattress very difficult. But choosing between a Non-Flip and a two-sided, or FLIPPABLE Mattress, need not be a challenge. Here is some information that you may find helpful when shopping for a new mattress... |

1. If you are planning to purchase a mattress that is going to have a very thick, soft, pillow top, with little or no back support, then definitely you should be looking for a Non-Flip Mattress. If the mattress has a 3 inch or greater, soft pillow top, then your new mattress will soon become a wonderful hammock, but will be very uncomfortable to sleep in for the entire night.
However . . .
2. If you are looking for a mattress with strong supportive coils and a medium to firm pillow top that is less than 3 inches thick, then why not purchase a mattress that comes with the benefit of two sides. A FLIPPABLE, or two-sided Mattress, is going to last much longer, and wear much better than a mattress that only has one side finished. You are far better off to get the whole mattress than half the mattress!
3. FLIPPABLE Mattresses were discontinued, by and large, around two decades ago. Why? Because with the ever increasing popularity of thicker and softer pillow top mattresses back in those days came an increase of warranty claims (oversized mattresses sag in the middle). To stop this trend, mattress manufacturers were moved to cut off one side of the mattress so that they could save money by charging the same amount as before but providing half as much material to your mattress.
4. The sad thing is, however, that when the mattress manufacturers decided to chop off half the mattress, they did not just do it to the thick and soft mattresses that were sagging in the middle; they cut it off all mattresses alike. This was a mistake, for the large majority of mattresses were just fine the way they were, and you, the mattress owner, were way further ahead on your mattress investment when you had the full use of both sides of your mattress. Warranty claims have been on the increase over the past ten years due to the fact that the mattress could no longer be flipped over and turned for more even wear.
