How Mark Got into the Furniture Business
Welcome to Anmarcos Furniture & Mattresses, a family-owned and operated business that has been providing quality furniture to customers for over 11 years. Our journey started with humble beginnings, when I was just 15 years old and started working with my dad in a corner store. This experience gave me invaluable knowledge about retail and customer service, which ultimately led me to my job at Simpsons-Sears as their shipper receiver.
While at Sears, I was responsible for managing the shipment and receiving of furniture. This role gave me extensive knowledge about the furniture industry and allowed me to gain valuable experience that I would later apply to my own business. A few years later, I was hired by a Powell River company to run their furniture store in Sechelt.
When I started at the Sechelt store, it was a start-up with a small building and a rusty old van. My role was to grow the business, and it was a challenging task. The first month was tough, with very few sales. However, through hard work, dedication, and perseverance, I was able to grow the business from 1,200 square feet to 12,000 square feet over a five-year period, with sales to match.
Later I moved to Courtenay and was hired to manage a small new-and-used store called Old Meets New Furniture, which later became Stokes Furniture.
Today, my wife and I run Anmarcos Furniture & Mattresses, a business that we are both proud of. Our two children help out with the business, answering emails to clients and pitching in wherever they can. We are thrilled to be able to provide quality products and excellent customer service to our clients.
